Siva on Nandi
In South and Southeast Asia over time some gods that belong to Hindu practice have been integrated into Buddhist belief. This sculpture of a 10-armed Shiva has a standing figure of the Buddha atop its headdress. One story associated with this type of image in Thailand tells of the Buddha and Shiva playing a game of hide-and-seek in which they use their amazing transformative powers. The Buddha shrinks himself and hides above Shiva’s eyes.
