Box with Watch
(18th and 19th Centuries )
A watch is mounted in the top of this octagonal box formed of thin slices of agate framed in gold. The box’s base is a hinged plate that opens to reveal an open interior compartment, which may have been intended to hold pills or candies. The maker of the watch, Thomas Broome, was admitted to the Clockmaker's Company in London in 1652.
