The great clan wars of the 12th century furnished endless semi-legendary material for dramatization. In this play the future leader Yoshitsune (left middle) wins a precious treatise on military tactics from Kiichi Hogen (right), with the help of Kiichi's adoring daughter (left) and Kiichi's young half-brother, disguised as a servant (right middle).
