Portrait of Baccio Bandinelli, formerly believed to be of Andrea del Sarto

Copy after Andrea del Sarto (Italian, 1486-1530) (Painter)
16th century (?) (Renaissance)
oil on wood panel
(Renaissance Europe )

This painting is a copy of a portrait now in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence, long considered a self-portrait of the famous Florentine High Renaissance painter Andrea del Sarto (1486-1530) and now recognized as as portrait of Andrea del Sarto's freind and colleague, the sculptor Baccio Bandinelli (1488-1560). Andrea's original portrait can be seen here . The Walters' copy may date later than the 16th century.
