Bracelet with the River God Achelous
During the 19th century, archaeological discoveries continued to fuel interest in ancient Greece and Rome. The head of the Greek river god Achelous, carved of jasper, is based on an ancient Etruscan pendant in the Campana collection, now in the Louvre Museum. The sardonyx panels depict classical scenes.
