Eros
1st century BCE-2nd century CE
Eros, god of love and son of Aphrodite, was a popular subject for small bronze or silver statuettes. Eros spread his gift of love among mortals and the gods by means of his bow and arrows. He is sometimes depicted holding a torch and fruit- attributes of the deities Hades and Persephone-associating Eros with fertility and the underworld.
