Case Watch

Swiss (Artist)
ca. 1820-1830
gold, enamel
(18th and 19th Centuries )

The dial of this watch is very delicately etched with a scene of a man fishing. The reverse of the outer case is painted with a woman holding a dove. The inner case is engraved and enameled with a polychrome bird. The watch is an example of the 19th century taste for historicism and revivals, as it recalls the decoration of 17th century watches.

Inscription

[Mark] No. 7511
