Sleeping Greyhound
(18th and 19th Centuries )
Dogs, except in hunts, are relatively scarce in Barye's production. In the 1840s, however, he briefly modeled some statuettes of greyhounds and basset hounds. In this example, he exploits the graceful shape of the hound's lean body.
