Bonbonnière with Pastoral Scenes
This cylindrical bonbonnière is composed of a convex cover hinged to a container with concave sides and a convex bottom. On the lid a shepherd embraces a seated shepherdess in a wooded landscape. The reverse of the container shows the shepherd leaning against a tree as he addresses a girl who is seated at the foot of a ruined wall. Around the rim are carved musical and pastoral trophies alternating with sheep and sleeping dogs.
There is a circular paper label inscribed in ink: 14467.9399; and a rectangular label: 171.
