Binding from Qur'an
This binding from Walters manuscript W.556 is not contemporary to the textblock. It probably dates to the 10th century AH/AD 16th with later repairs. The binding is composed of dark red goatskin (with a flap) and has a gold-tooled central lobed medallion with an inner frame and cornerpieces. The binding also has an outer frame of interlocking "S" design.
