Corpus of Christ

Description Provenance Credit
Description Crude works in bone such as this one were probably made by prisoners of war from soup bones. They exist in varying qualities, and the present example, with its strong emphasis on the rib cage and drapery, is more detailed than many. The arms, which were made of separate pieces, are missing.
Provenance Private Collection; Walters Art Museum, 1970, by bequest.
Credit Anonymous bequest, 1970
