Fan
(18th and 19th Centuries )
Perhaps best known today as a painter of fans, Gabrielle Zaborowska Eylé, was born in Paris in 1852 and painted miniatures in a variety of mediums. She exhibited under her maiden name (Eylé) at the Paris Salon exhibitions from 1870 until 1880 and then under her married name (Zaborowska). A number of her works, like this fan, exhibit a romaticized late-19th-century view of 18th-century fashions and motifs.
