Mirror Cover with Hawking Scene
(Medieval Europe )
On the back of this mirror cover a couple on horseback are shown hawking; this was a pastime suitable for noble young lovers as they could be together away from the castle or manor house for their amorous pursuits. The scene is surrounded by a six-lobed frame set within a circle and four crouched dragons.
