Sketch of Costume of General Bonaparte
(18th and 19th Centuries )
Barye drew this study in preparation for modeling General Bonaparte. It differs from the final bronze in that it shows Napoleon wearing a bicorn hat decorated with plumes. Napoleon held the rank of general from 1793 to 1799.
