Psalter

German (Artist)
1st half 13th century (Medieval)
ink and pigments on heavy, darkened parchment with original leather tabs bound between non-medieval oak boards covered with green velvet and copper
(Manuscripts and Rare Books, Medieval Europe )

This manuscript is housed in a sumptuous binding, which, though not original to the book, contains several striking medieval elements. Because of the fragile nature of the binding, the book was not able to be opened, and the information about it is derived from earlier images and notes.
