Description Conservation Exhibitions Provenance Credit
Description Coffrets, or small boxes, covered with leather were often used to store documents or other desk objects. It is decorated with floral patterns and includes two inscriptions: on the right, "J'ay bien choisi" ("I have chosen well"); and on the left, "Son voulloir est le myen" ("His will is my will"). The box was originally painted with red and blue against a natural leather background and had gilt details.
