Coffret and Key
Coffrets, or small boxes, covered with leather were often used to store documents or other desk objects. It is decorated with floral patterns and includes two inscriptions: on the right, "J'ay bien choisi" ("I have chosen well"); and on the left, "Son voulloir est le myen" ("His will is my will"). The box was originally painted with red and blue against a natural leather background and had gilt details.
